India Arrests Over Thousand of Kashmir Protesters in Bid to End Rallies
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Following the government's ban, most opposition parties said they would stage a so called day of rage on November 28, the BBC broadcaster reported.

Major protest rally is expected in the eastern city of Kolkata, while the main opposition Congress party plans a protest march in the southern city of Bangalore, according to the broadcaster.

Earlier in November, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupee currency notes, making them invalid to help counter black money, fake currency business and corruption. According to Modi, people holding the invalid notes can deposit them in banks and post office accounts before December 30.

Millions of Indians were forced to stand long queues to deposit the invalid notes at banks and post offices after the ban was announced.
