A delegation of parliamentarians led by India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh will attend Castro’s funeral in Havana.

Fidel Castro, a statesman, revolutionary and one of the most iconic personalities governed the Republic of Cuba for 47 years by sheer charisma and iron will. His contribution to the Non-Aligned Movement and his unflinching support for India’s cause on various fora will remain deeply etched in the minds and hearts of Indian people,” Sumitra Mahajan, Chairman, India’s Lower House said.

Members from both the Houses of Parliament paid tributes by standing in silence for a minute.

“A champion of anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism, he served as an inspiration for socialist movements and anti-colonial struggles across the world,” Hamid Ansari, Chairman of Upper House said.
