MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Neither the Kremlin nor representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry have had anything to do with an event in Paris on the situation in Syria, in which US President-elect Donald Trump’s son took part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday.

Syrian Opposition Member Says New Constitution Discussed With Trump's Son
Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump Jr took part in discussions in Paris in October at an event seeking to find ways to cooperate with Russia in Syria. Randa Kassis, the chair of the Syrian opposition Movement of the Pluralistic Society, reportedly took part in the event.

"No, neither the Kremlin nor representatives of the foreign ministry had anything to do with this discussion," Peskov told reporters.

According to the spokesman, the idea of cooperation between Russia and the United states on Syria has long been promoted by Moscow, "sadly for us, without meeting reciprocity from the current US administration."

"Yet again, it is premature to say how the new US administration will act, which position it will take. We need to be patient and understand what configuration this new administration will have," Peskov added.
