The US President-elect Donald Trump administration's possible move to give up the practice to arrest Russian nationals in third countries would help normalize relations between Moscow and Washington, Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov said Wednesday.

Moscow Hopes New US Administration to Stop Extraterritorial Arrests of Russians
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He said the US president-elect had voiced interest in normalizing relations with Russia.

"Frankly speaking, there is too little hope that the current administration will take into account our demands, abandon this practice. We will continue this work with the Trump administration. We hope there will be positive changes under Trump and his administration," Dolgov told RT television channel.

"Rejection of the illegal practice of extraterritorial use of US laws is one of the shortest paths to the normalization of bilateral relations," Dolgov said.
