US President-elect Donald Trump's choice of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for next US ambassador to the United Nations should bring comfort to those concerned about the relationship between Israel and the organization, US Senator and former presidential candidate Lindsey Graham said in a statement on Wednesday.

Trump Confirms Nomination of Governor Haley as Next US Ambassador to UN
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Haley will be a strong voice for reform and for American interests around the world, Graham added.

"Governor Haley is a strong supporter of the State of Israel. Her presence as Ambassador will be reassuring to all those who are concerned about the increasing hostility of the United Nations toward Israel," Graham stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump named Haley as his nominee for US ambassador to the UN. Her nomination will have to be confirmed by the US Senate.

Graham ran against Trump for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. He did not support Trump as the Republican nominee after dropping out of the race in December of 2015.
