Russia Should Accelerate Development of Arctic, Far East - Putin

Russia should accelerate the development in the Far East and the Arctic regions, President Vladimir Putin said at the Presidential Council for Science and Education on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Putin said that the task could be achieved with the consolidation of budgetary and private funds, as well as close cooperation between the scientific, government and domestic business communities.

"First you need to create a strong technological base to ensure faster growth of the economy and global competitiveness of domestic companies, to bring medicine and agriculture up to a new level of quality, accelerate the development of our territories, including the Arctic and the Russian Far East," Putin said.
