This is 'What People Cannot Understand' About Situation in Aleppo
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The statement also calls on militants to lay down arms in accordance with amnesty decree, and thereby get an opportunity to settle their legal status and return to normal life.

"We appeal to common sense of militants in the eastern part of the city. Stop the bloodshed, bombing of residential areas and attacks on civilians," the statement said.

"The Syrian army and its allies adhered to all declared humanitarian truces, as well as defined safe corridors [for evacuation]. At the same time, the militants in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo violated every ceasefire and continued attacks on the civilian population," a statement obtained by RIA Novosti read.

Syrian Armed Forces Urge Militants in Eastern Aleppo to Distribute Food Supplies
Over the recent months, Aleppo has been a major battleground in Syria, engaging government forces, jihadists, and numerous opposition groups. Eastern Aleppo is held by militants, encircled by government forces, and the fighting has affected thousands of civilians still trapped in the city.

In October, a humanitarian pause was introduced in Aleppo to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians and unarmed militants from eastern parts of the city through designated corridors. That pause collapsed when the militants from the Jabhat Fatah al Sham, previously known as al-Nusra Front attacked civilians, preventing them from fleeing the city.
