MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport on Tuesday said it is setting up anti-terrorism related exhibits at the ongoing International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2016 event in Pakistan.

"We are showcasing a wide range of solutions and law enforcement tools at IDEAS 2016. Our main aim is to increase counterterrorist cooperation with Pakistan and other countries in the region. Rosoboronexport is displaying exhibits, which demonstrate the high performance and effectiveness of Russian products used in fighting this global threat," Rosoboronexport said in a statement.

The exporter has brought over 250 pieces of defense equipment to the event, including an BTR-80A armored personnel carrier, which has a proven track record of taking part in counter-terrorist operations with Russian forces, according to the statement.

The BTR-80S, a variant of the BTR-80A vehicle, is in service with Russia's interior troops which regularly conduct counter-terrorist operations.

During the event, Rosoboronexport plans to present its new "Fighting Terrorism and Ensuring Law and Order" project aimed at detecting terror threats and illegal actions, conducting anti-terror operations, ensuring law and order and protecting crucial facilities. The project is based on Russian and global experience of countering terrorism. The system is used by the Russian Interior Ministry, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the Federal Guard Service (FSO).

IDEAS 2016 is taking place in Karachi on November 22-25. The biannual event brings together global defense industry players to showcase the latest technological developments. In 2014, over 50 countries sent their representatives to Karachi, with over 300 companies setting up exhibits, according to the organizers. Almost 50 delegations were headed by high-level defense officials.
