MINSK (Sputnik) — Russia and Belarus are going to discuss the vectors of development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), particularly its cooperation with the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Tuesday.

"We will examine the issues of cooperation with the European Union, including the alignment of different integration process in the European region," Lavrov said during the Russia — Belarus ministerial boards' meeting.

The Russian foreign minister called the EAEU decision to start negotiations on economic and trade agreement with China ‘promising.’ Lavrov added that Russia was interested in signing the free trade agreement between ASEAN and EAEU.

The ongoing ministerial board of the two countries touches upon the development of integration processes in Eurasia and Asia-Pacific region, relations with the European Union, advancement of common approaches in the United Nations and joint responses to attempts to falsify historical facts and events.

In April, the two states marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Creation of a Union State of Russia and Belarus.
