Trump May Meet With Queen Elizabeth II in Summer 2017
LONDON (Sputnik) – The United Kingdom is considering inviting newly elected US President Donald Trump for a state visit in 2017, a spokeswoman of UK Prime Minister Theresa May said on Monday.

"An invitation for a state visit is one of the things that is under consideration following the election of a new US president. One of the issues under consideration is the 2017 state visits," the spokeswoman said, as quoted by The BBC.

On Sunday, UK media reported that Trump may be invited to meet with UK Queen Elizabeth II in summer 2017.

Trump expressed excitement at the prospect of meeting the monarch during the meeting with UK Independence Party (UKIP) acting leader Nigel Farage in New York on November 12. Speaking of relations with the United Kingdom, Trump said that he had a "really good conversation with the prime minister" and wanted to "develop a good relationship" with her.

On November 8, Trump managed to come ahead of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the US presidential elections, securing 290 electoral votes. Trump's inauguration will be held on January 20, 2017.
