Number of Settlements Joining Syrian Ceasefire Reaches 967

A total of 967 settlements joined Syrian truce agreement amid 50 ceasefire violations in the last 24 hours, the Russian military announced Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The number of settlements that have joined the cessation of hostilities in war-torn Syria has increased to 967, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Within the last 24 hours, truce agreements have been reached with representatives of six settlements in Hama (3) and Latakia (3) provinces, bringing the total number of settlements that have joined the ceasefire to 967," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.

According to the document, negotiations on joining ceasefire regime have continued with field commanders of armed opposition units operating in Homs, Hama, Quneitra, and Aleppo provinces.

At the same time a total of 50 ceasefir violations were registered by the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeimim airbase in the last 24 hours.

"A total of 50 ceasefire violations by illegal militant groups have been registered in Damascus (19), Aleppo (24), Latakia (2), Hama (2), Quneitra (2) and Deraa (1) provinces," the ministry added.

The Jabhat Fatah Al-Sham, formerly known as Nusra Front, and the Islamic State terrorist groups, which have been outlawed in Russia, are not part of the ceasefire deal.
