Greeks Prioritize Boosting Economic Ties With Russia, China More Than With US

Only reasonable and natural that they want to play with Russia, as they are almost neighbors next door, compared to the other two major powers. And China gives opportunity to revive Greece to its ancient glory days when the Silk Road already boasted wealth and international trade before the US even existed, whereas the US gives only more refugees to deal with.
ATHENS (Sputnik) – A total of 47.5 percent of respondents called for closer economic cooperation with Russia, 39.5 percent – for boosting ties with China whereas only 36.5 percent – for developing economic relations with the United States, a poll conducted by the Kappa Research company for the To Vima newspaper said.
More than 40 percent Greeks said that Greece itself should solve its economic problems.
"Only 34 percent believe that the country should be supported primarily by the European Union – that is a sign of growing Euroscepticism," the research said.
However, most respondents said that Greece should have friendly relations with the United States. Most respondents said that they were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with outgoing US leader Barack Obama’s presidency. At the same time Greeks are concerned about US President-elect Donald Trump’s victory with 68.5 percent of respondents believing that his presidency will lead to deterioration of bilateral relations.
The poll was conducted on November 11 —12 with 805 people taken part in it.
