Trump Plans to Launch Trade Policy Reforms, NAFTA Review on Day 1 of Presidency
LIMA (Sputnik) — Mexico remains committed to the North American Free Trade Agreement  (NAFTA) and hopes the United States will continue its membership of it under president Donald Trump, Mexican leader Enrique Pena Nieto said Saturday.

During his campaign, Trump has criticized NAFTA, which comprises the United States, Canada and Mexico, over lack of benefits for the United States and said he could consider withdrawing from it.

"We had NAFTA for the least 20 years. It has given us much benefits, particularly because of the membership of the United States. This is the vision we hold now and want to continue promoting," Pena Nieto said, speaking at the APEC CEO summit in Lima.

"For Mexico, relationship with the United States remains a priority, obviously. This is what we are looking at. We are looking for a more consolidated integration with North America," Pena Nieto added.
