ATHENS (Sputnik) — The leaders of two Cyprus' communities will hold a joint meeting with the three guarantor states, Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom, the Kathimerini newspaper reported.

The two possible dates were reportedly discussed earlier on Saturday during a telephone conversation between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops occupied its northern part in the wake of the Greek Cypriots coup and proclaimed the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nearly a decade later. Only Turkey recognizes the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Ankara keeps some 35,000 troops in the breakaway northern part of the island.
