Japan's Abe, US President-Elect Trump to Meet Thursday in New York
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Secretary of State John Kerry and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Peru, where they discussed climate change and ways to improve cooperation between their nations, Department of State spokesman Mark Toner said in a press release.

“Secretary Kerry met with Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida on November 17 on the margins of the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Lima, Peru,” Toner stated in Thursday's release.

The two officials discussed the continued strength of the US-Japan partnership, North Korea, trade and the importance of implementing the Paris climate-change agreement, the spokesman added.

Peru has been hosting a yearlong series of APEC meetings that culminate this weekend with a gathering of ministers from the regional body’s member governments.
