Militant Groups in Eastern Aleppo Trying to Suppress Mass Protests
DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — A peaceful demonstration under the slogan "Leave or let us go away" is set to be held in the eastern parts of Aleppo on Friday, newspaper Al-Watan reported on Friday, citing its sources.

Protests are reportedly triggered by terrorists preventing citizens from leaving the danger zone through humanitarian corridors and using civilians as human shields.

On Thursday, dozens of people gathered in the Bustan al-Qasr district where one of the humanitarian corridors is located, the Lebanese Al Manar TV channel reported.

People are said to protest against militant groups’ exclusive access to the international humanitarian aid. Protesters tried to break into several food storages but militants opened fire, leaving many people injured.

Other protests took place in the districts of Jisr al Haj, al Kallas and al Marjah.

Syria’s Aleppo has been the scene of fierce battles between Syria’s army and militants holding the city's eastern districts.

In October, a humanitarian pause was introduced in Aleppo to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians and unarmed militants from eastern parts of the city through designated corridors. That pause collapsed when Jabhat Fatah al Sham (also known as al-Nusra Front, or Jabhat al-Nusra, outlawed in Russia) militants prevented civilians from fleeing Aleppo and attacked them.
