Sending Migrants Back to Africa Should Be Mulled on EU Level - German Ministry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) African countries should develop their own economies instead of sending their citizens to other countries, including Italy, leader of Italy's Lega Nord party Matteo Salvini said Friday.

"Refugees should be relocated to African countries. First for export of refugees is Nigeria, its economy is growing very quickly, six times quicker than in Italy, they should develop their own economies and not expel their citizens in other countries, including in ours," Salvini told reporters.

He added that about 500,000 migrants arrived in Italy during the last three years, while only 10 percent of them could be classified as refugees, because they had fled their war-torn countries of origin.

Europe is currently struggling to cope with a massive refugee influx, with hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants fleeing their countries of origin in search of safety and refuge in the European Union. While many migrants are refugees, fleeing the conflict-torn countries of the Middle East and North Africa, some want to reach Europe in order to receive relatively high social benefits.
