DAMASCUS (Sputnik) – According to the Al Mayadeen television channel, hundreds of residents of Moadamyeh have taken to the streets to celebrate.

The humanitarian situation in Moadamyeh has been difficult, with the United Nations considering it a besieged area.

Syria's civil war between government forces and opposition has been ongoing for over five years and has given rise to a number of terrorist groups, including al-Nusra Front and Daesh, both of which are outlawed in a number of countries, including Russia.
