'Drain the Swamp': Trump's Anti-Establishment Threat Rings Alarms in London
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – London Mayor Sadiq Khan says the city will welcome all Americans who wish to leave the United States in the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections.

"Millions of people, I'm told, used Google's search engine [after] the election on Tuesday [November 8] … I heard one of the most googled things since Wednesday has been 'how do you emigrate?' If talented people based in the U.S. want to come here to London, my message is simple: London is open," Khan said as quoted by The Week magazine on Wednesday.

Republican candidate Donald Trump won the 2016 US presidential elections, securing more than 270 electoral votes needed for his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton’s defeat.

In the popular vote, however, the lead of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over Trump has surpassed 1 million, according to vote-tracking data.

Per the US Constitution, Trump will take his oath of office on January 20, becoming the nation’s 45th president.

Demonstrations against Trump have taken place in various US states and in major American cities following the presidential elections. Trump made multiple controversial statements during his elections campaign, including in relations to immigrants and women.
