The Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Khaled bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh intends to visit Egypt in December to attend the meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), amid talks on resumption of Amarco oil supplies to Egypt, a source told Sputnik.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — According to the source, the arrival of Al-Faleh in Cairo would "provide a good opportunity to reach an understanding on the resumption of Saudi oil company Aramco’s supplies to Egypt."

In April this year, Saudi Arabia agreed to supply 700,000 tons of oil products per month to Egypt until 2021 as a part of Saudi assistance program to the country.

In early November, Saudi Arabia informed Egypt about halting of deliveries.

According to media reports, the suspension of Saudi deliveries could be connected to Egypt’s support for Russian draft resolution on Syria at the UN Security Council meeting in October, as Saudi authorities calls for power change in Syria and express support to the opposition forces, while Moscow was on the side of the current Syrian government.

The Russian draft, calling for a ceasefire but not mentioning a halt to anti-terrorist strikes in Aleppo, received a vote of four in favor (China, Egypt, Russian Federation, Venezuela), nine against (France, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Senegal, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States), with two abstentions (Angola and Uruguay) at the UN Security Council meeting last month.
