The modernization of the Russian Navy's surface warships will include using shield materials or the so-called stealth technology, which make military hardware less visible for enemy electronic warfare systems, Russia's Ruselectronics holding said in a press statement Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, the material properties allow the use of the technology at all types of vessels — small crafts, medium and heavy-lift ships. The materials were developed by the St. Petersburg-based research institute Ferrite Domen.

"Ruselectronics holding, a part of state tech corporation Rostec, has made a delivery of shield materials for the needs of modernization of the Russian Navy's surface warships. The materials are scheduled to be tested in mid-2017," the statement reads.
