First Russian Cosmonauts May Be Sent to Moon in 2031 – Space Corporation

Russia may send its first manned spacecraft to the Moon in 2031 after several unmanned lunar missions, General Director of Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia Vladimir Solntsev said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Russia) – He noted that the first Russian spacecrafts would be sent to the Moon in 2025. In 2026, Russia is going to organize an unmanned circumlunar flight. A take-off and landing module is going to be sent to the Earth’s satellite in 2027.

“We set the task to organize a manned flight to the Moon in 2030s, a lunar landing in 2031,” Solntsev said at a conference in Moscow.

Solntsev added that these missions would help to prepare for a manned mission in 2031.
