France Monitors Situation in Turkey Following Closure of Media Outlets
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, Turkish authorities reportedly detained Bertrand, who worked in the Turkish southern city of Gaziantep near the Turkish-Syrian border.

"We are in constant contact with him [Bertrand] via our embassy [in Turkey]. We do our best to release him. The current developments are shocking and unacceptable. France demands release of the journalist," Ayrault told Europe 1 broadcaster.

According to Ayrault France should not end its dialogue with Turkey on the issue, because it would be a "serious mistake."

The minister also condemned the situation with press freedom in Turkey.
