Ana Clara with her determination and talent managed to clear the contest and now has a chance to study in the prestigious school.
She cleared a course of classical dance after she took part in an entrance contest which was attended by 650 children from 25 different Brazilian states and federal districts, as well as children from Argentina and Paraguay.
In an exclusive interview with Sputnik Brazil, Ana Clara said that she took her first steps into the dance world when she was just 8 years old. The young ballerina comes from a poor family.
Despite the setbacks she managed to get a scholarship in Pro Paz, a social project in the area of Sacramenta, in the city of Belém do Pará, in northern Brazil. Under this project, Ana Clara was engaged not only in ballet but also in gymnastics and even capoeira.
“I joined the Pro Paz project when I was 8 years old. There I started to like dancing.”
Talking about clearing the contest to dance in the Bolshoi Theatre School, Clara said, “This is a very big opportunity for me and it is a great joy for me and my family.”
When the social project was temporarily suspended, one of the teachers noticed how talented the young ballerina is and began supporting her to get a scholarship into the ballet studio, which was also located in Belém do Pará.
This studio helped Ana Clara to improve her dancing and trained her for entrance into the Bolshoi Theatre School.
Recalling her entrance exam into the Bolshoi Theatre School, the ballerina said, “It was very difficult. At first I thought I wouldn’t pass, as there were a lot of girls but on the other hand, I felt very confident, so I trained hard, I worked hard and my teacher helped me a lot.”
The lessons will begin in January 2017. Despite her excitement, Ana Clara will face yet another challenge – living away from her parents.
Although her family plans to move to Joinville in order to be close to her, at the moment it is not easy to do so because the two cities are located 2,069 miles from each other.
“I will miss them a lot but I will try hard because this is my dream and I will fight for it. I will become a professional ballerina and I will get an education in order to help my mom and dad,” Ana Clara told Sputnik Brazil.
In addition to free education, the young ballerina and her other mates who managed to pass the entrance exam will be provided with food, transportation, costumes, educational support, medical checkups and consultations with nutritionist.
In March this year, the Bolshoi Theater School in Brazil celebrated 16 years since its inauguration. Apart from the unique cultural training with which the school provides, it also gives a chance to the poor strata of Brazilian population by giving them an opportunity to study.
