Russia to Test-Fly MC-21 Airliner in Feb.-Mar. 2017

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that had already constructed two MC-21 aircraft, and one was currently in Moscow Region and the second one in Irkutsk Region, where ground training activities were carried out.

JERICHO (Sputnik) — Russia will carry out the first flight test of its advanced MC-21 passenger jet in February or in early March of 2017, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Friday.

In October, Rogozin said that the first flight of the MC-21 aircraft would take place in the first quarter of 2017.

"[The first flight will take place] in February, maybe in the beginning of March," Rogozin said at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He added that Russia had already constructed two MC-21 aircraft, and one was currently in Moscow Region and the second one in Irkutsk Region, where ground training activities were carried out.

The new Russian MC-21 mid-range airliner MC-21 was first presented earlier in June at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. Different modifications of the jet will be able to carry up to 211 passengers.
