It remains to be seen if campaign promises of newly elected US President Donald Trump regarding international issues were simply a part of the pre-election marketing strategy, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said on Thursday.

PRAGUE (Sputnik) — Trump won the presidential race on Tuesday with 290 electoral votes against his rival Hillary Clinton's 232. His inauguration will take place on January 20, 2017.

"We will see … if Trump will return to those promises that he gave to voters and on the basis of which he received crucial support in key states, or if it was just a pre-election marketing and his policy will be different," Sobotka said as quoted on the Ceske Noviny news website.

According to Sobotka, it is necessary to wait and see what Trump’s actual policy regarding international trade agreements, US relations with the European Union and Russia as well as conflict in Syria would be.
