Sixty-five people were arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration, a police spokesman told Sputnik.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Sixty-five people were arrested as thousands marched the streets of New York City the night after the US presidential election to denounce the victory of Donald Trump, New York Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Antonetti told Sputnik on Thursday.

"There were 65 arrests last night," Antonetti said. "These arrests were mostly for disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest."

Trump's victory in the election on Wednesday morning sparked numerous protests across the city.
