MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Scotland’s senior law officer, the Lord Advocate, is going to lodge a formal application to the Supreme Court in order to intervene in the case.
"So legislation should be required at Westminster and the consent of the Scottish Parliament should be sought before Article 50 is triggered … The Scottish Government will do everything we can to influence the UK Government's approach to Brexit," Sturgeon said, as quoted by the Express media outlet.
On November 3, the High Court ruled that the UK government had no right to trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty and launch Brexit negotiations with the European Union without a parliamentary act backing the move. The government vowed to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court, with the case expected to be heard in early December.
