MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Merkel said:
"Yes, we know that we already have to deal with … definitive cyberattacks originating from Russia but also with misinformation. It is our daily routine. So this could play a role in the election campaign."
US authorities accused the Russian government last month of trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into accounts of the Democratic Party and handing over emails to WikiLeaks. Russia has denied these allegations.
