Russia's Rosneft oil company and China's Beijing Gas Group signed a cooperation agreement on Monday that entails the sale of a 20-percent stake in OJSC Verkhnechonskneftegaz, which is exploring a large oil and gas field in Eastern Siberia.

China's CNPC Says Ready to Consider Buying Stake in Russia's Rosneft

STRELNA (Sputnik) — Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and Beijing Gas Group General Manager and Vice Chairman Li Yalan signed the agreement in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the signing ceremony.

Rosneft controls 99.94 percent of Verkhnechonskneftegaz shares. The Verkhnechonskoe oil, gas and condensate field is one of Rosnefts’s top-priority projects in Eastern Siberia.
