ABU DHABI (Sputnik) — The Gulf region consumes a lot of energy, and we want to be region’s pioneers in the use of solar energy, which could become a significant part of the energy consumed in the region, Kaabi added.

"The Gulf region consumes a lot of energy, and we want to be region’s pioneers in the use of solar energy, which could become a significant part of the energy consumed in the region, considering the large number of sunny days in this area," Kaabi said at a plenary session of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum exhibition and conference (ADIPEC).

ADIPEC 2016, a leading global oil and gas event, is held on November 7-10 in the United Arab Emirates' capital.

Over 2,000 companies take part in the exhibition, including 20 national and 15 international oil companies. It is expected that at least 95,000 people will visit ADIPEC expo.
