UK military intelligence said in a five-page report that Russia’s T-14 Armata advanced tank is the most breakthrough step in tank design during the last 50 years.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "Without hyperbole, Armata represents the most revolutionary step change in tank design in the last half century," the report said, as quoted by The Telegraph on Saturday, citing the vehicle's speed, radar systems and turret design.

According to the document, there are concerns about the fact that London had no plans to develop tank, which could be able to stand against the Russian advanced vehicle.

At the same time the report added that it should not be interpreted as "official MoD statement."

Armata's operational engine has parameters of up to 1,800 horsepower, with the tank’s basic version equipped with a 1,500-horsepower engine. The tank is operated by a crew of three, housed in an armored capsule at the front. Its main armament includes a 125-mm smoothbore cannon and a 7.62-mm remote-control machine gun.

The Russian Defense Ministry unveiled Armata tank at the May 9 Victory Day military parade in Moscow in 2015.
