Russia Delivers Over 5 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Syrian Provinces
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia delivered about 7 metric tons of humanitarian aid to the Syria’s provinces of Aleppo, Hama, Quneitra and Tartus, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

“Eight humanitarian events have been held within last 24 hours, in course of which citizens had received humanitarian aid: in Auba (Quneitra province) – about 1.5 tons of humanitarian cargos; near National Reconciliation Center in Hama – 3 tons; in military hospital in Tartus – about 600 kg [1,322 pounds]; in central hospital in Tartus – about 1 ton; in maternity hospital in Tartus – about 200 kg; in military hospital in Aleppo – 300 kg; in adult residential home in Aleppo – 150 kg; in orphanage for girls in Aleppo – about 100 kg,” the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website on Tuesday.

Syria's civil war between government forces and a wide range of insurgents, including opposition groups and terrorists, such as Islamic State (ISIL, also known as Daesh) and Jabhat Fatah al Sham (also known as al-Nusra Front, or Jabhat al-Nusra), both outlawed in Russia, has raged for some five years and has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

On September 9, Russia and the United States reached an agreement for a peace process in Syria. A ceasefire stipulated by the deal entered into force on September 12, but while it was supposed to last at least seven days for the next steps to be taken toward the Syrian settlement, it disintegrated soon.
