CAIRO (Sputnik) — Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit criticized Arab media on Monday for allegedly provoking sectarian strife and regional conflicts.
"I see that the Arab media pay much attention to inter-religious strife and provocations, whereas their broadcast lacks precise information, objectivity and neutrality," Gheit said during a media forum without specifying the names of the media.
According to the diplomat, it is important "to counter extremist media" and incitement to religious hatred, as the latter had led to civil wars in a number of Arab countries
The Arab League, established back in 1945, comprises of 22 regional states, which are striving to cooperate on political, economic, cultural, scientific, and social issues in order to promote the interests of the Arab world.
