MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The first Druzhba-2016 ("Friendship-2016") Russian-Pakistani joint military exercises concluded earlier this month.
"The Pakistani side has analyzed the results of the first joint exercises and found them to be very successful, after which a request was sent to the Russian Defense Ministry with a proposal to coordinate a plan of events for 2017, which will include a series of joint exercises, exchange of observers and visits of high-ranking officials," a military diplomatic source told the Russian Izvestiya newspaper.
According to the media outlet, many Pakistani defense enterprises are also expected to take part in the Army-2017 military expo in Russia.
As many as 70 personnel from Russia's Southern Military District (SMD) mechanized infantry brigade, stationed in the Karachaevo–Cherkessian Republic, and a total of 200 troops in total took part in the Druzhba exercises which took place between September 24 and October 10, 2016, at the Cherat training range in Pakistan.
