MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia clearly wants to help UN bring humanitarian aid to Aleppo and implement the organization's November aid plan, the senior advisor to UN special envoy for Syria, Jan Egeland, said Thursday.

"It was very clear today that the Russians want to help with the November plan implementation, they would like to help us get access to east Aleppo," Egeland told reporters when asked if the British UN official Stephen O'Brien's clash with Russian Ambassador to UN Vitaly Churkin would influence the humanitarian campaign in Aleppo.

Earlier in the day, speaking in front of the UN Security Council, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator O'Brien leveled harsh criticism at Russia's actions in Syria, which was rebuffed by Churkin.
