Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic expressed his satisfaction on Wednesday with the cooperation with the Russian security services, and noted that there was potential for its further development.

BELGRADE(Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev arrived in Belgrade for the talks with Serbian senior officials. Before the talks with Patrushev behind closed doors, Stefanovic said that his ministry successfully cooperated with the Russian Interior Ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the National Guard.

"I believe that there is potential for development of cooperation. In the near future, we can exchange experience in these areas," Stefanovic said, as quoted by the Tanjug news agency.

In turn, Patrushev proposed to work on a memorandum of understanding to create the conditions for regular communication on security matters of mutual interest. The initiative was discussed back in 2013, but did not get legal status.

Apart from the Serbian interior minister, Patrushev is expected to meet with Serbian Defense Minister Zoran Djordjevic, as well as Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and President Tomislav Nikolic.
