GENEVA (Sputnik) – Russia and Switzerland are considering a possibility of conducting multilateral humanitarian missions in the third countries, including in the Middle East, Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said Wednesday during the talks with Swiss colleagues.
“Currently, we are considering a possibility of conducting multilateral humanitarian missions in the Middle East. In particular, we have a request for help from the Lebanese side, where over 1 million of Syrian refugees are located,” Puchkov stressed, adding that the countries are also discussing ways to help Jordan and other states.
Earlier in the day, Puchkov signed a cooperation agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, stipulating urgent information exchange on humanitarian operations.
Russia is currently conducting a humanitarian mission in Syria and eastern Ukraine among other nations.
