US, Spain to Take Part in Canada-Led Naval Training in Atlantic, Caribbean

The United States and Spain will take part in a Canadian-led training event Spartan Warrior 2016, according to official statement.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States and Spain will participate in Spartan Warrior, a three-week, Canadian-led naval training exercise that began Monday, the government of Canada announced in a press release.

“Spartan Warrior 2016 is a Canadian-led training event taking place from October 24 to November 16, 2016, off the east coast of Nova Scotia and along the eastern seaboard of North America, going as far south as the Bahamas,” the release on Monday said.

Participants include Canadian ships, a Spanish replenishment ship with embarked Royal Canadian Navy personnel, and US Navy submarines, according to the release.

Starting off Canada’s Atlantic coast, vessels in the drill will head south along the US East Coast before concluding their training in the Caribbean, the release explained.
