MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Cygnus spacecraft was successfully attached to the International Space Station and is ready to unload its cargo, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said Sunday.

"Orbital ATK’s Cygnus cargo spacecraft was berthed to the Unity module of the International Space Station at 10:53 a.m. EDT," NASA said in a statement.

Cygnus, carrying food, supplies and scientific experiments equipment, will spend about a month docked to the Unity module of the ISS.

Like other similar cargo spacecraft, Cygnus will burn up upon re-entering Earth's atmosphere.
