The gunman was lightly injured, while two of the police officers received serious wounds and two were slightly injured.

According to the police, the attacker belongs to the so-called Reich Citizens’ Movement, whose members believe the Third Reich continues to exist in modern Germany but within pre-WWII borders.

Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann and Middle Franconia police chief Johann Rast are expected to give a press conference in the afternoon on the incident and the phenomenon of the Reich Citizens’ Movement.
