The meeting in Geneva will discuss issues related to the separation of 'moderate opposition" groups from Nusra Front terrorists in eastern Aleppo with the ultimate goal of pushing this terrorist group from the city, according to the Russian envoy to the UN office in Geneva (UNOG).

GENEVA (Sputnik) — A Geneva meeting of military experts from Russia, the US, and some regional countries on October 19 may bring positive results in terms of separation 'moderate opposition' from terrorists operation in the embattled Syrian city of Aleppo, the Russian envoy to the UN office in Geneva (UNOG) said Tuesday.

"The meeting in Geneva will discuss issues related to the separation of 'moderate opposition" groups from Nusra Front terrorists in eastern Aleppo with the ultimate goal of pushing this terrorist group from the city," Alexey Borodavkin told RIA Novosti.

"We are hoping that the upcoming meeting of military experts wil, finally, bring positive results in terms of isolating the terrorists…whom the international community have pledged to destroy in line with UNSC resolutions," Borodavkin stressed.

'Diplomacy the Only Way to Safeguard US' Interests' in Syria
A special UN Human Rights Council session on the situation in Syria's Aleppo is aimed at protecting terrorists and punishing those who are fighting against them, according to Borodavkin.

"The special UNHRC session on Aleppo is yet another anti-Russian and anti-Syrian publicity stunt. It is obviously counterproductive and its target provokes indignation. Because it is about protecting terrorists entrenched in eastern Aleppo, who are committing countless crimes against civilian population, and accusing those who are fighting against these hardened criminals of all sins," Alexey Borodavkin said.

A diplomatic source told RIA Novosti earlier on Tuesday, that a resolution on the humanitarian situation in Syria's Aleppo would be adopted following a special session on October 21.

The UNHRC special session on situation in Aleppo has been initiated by the United Kingdom.
