Moscow Remains Convinced No Alternatives Exist to Minsk Deals on Ukraine

According to the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Moscow is convinced that there are no alternatives to Minsk agreements.

Kremlin Confirms Putin's Participation in Oct. 19 Normandy Summit in Berlin
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The leaders of the Normandy Four format will compare notes at the upcoming talks in Berlin, Moscow is still convinced that there are no alternatives to Minsk agreements on Ukrainian reconciliation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be participating in a meeting with leaders of France, Germany and Ukraine in Berlin on October 19 as scheduled.

"A year has passed since the meeting in Paris. The work of aides has shown the need for comparing of notes which will be done. There is currently no possibility of speaking of some specific agreements," Peskov told reporters.

According to the spokesman, Putin remains open and ready for talks on Ukraine, despite Kiev’s unwillingness to implement Minsk agreements.

"Moscow and president Putin maintain conviction that there are no alternatives to Minsk agreements, and in the necessity of all countries, which took on responsibilities, to implement Minsk agreements, primarily, of course, the political part which must be implemented by Kiev. We know that situation leaves much to be desired here," he added.
