Life After Brexit: Annoyed Britons Switch Sides, Become Swedes
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Almost half of British citizens consider that the government should focus on getting favorable deals with the European Union in debating the so-called Brexit, a new ComRes poll for the Independent and the Sunday Mirror newspapers revealed.

"Britons are more likely to say that the Government should prioritise getting favourable trade deals with EU countries when negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU than think it should prioritise reducing immigration (49% vs 39%)," the survey's results showed Saturday.

According to the poll, most of the Britons, 57 percent, while choosing between current Prime Minister Theresa May and opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, consider May to make a better prime minister.

The poll was carried out on Wednesday and Thursday, covering in particular the Syrian crisis, the preferable government direction as well as public opinion on party leaders and politicians.

On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. Eventually, 51.9 percent of voters, decided to support Brexit. Then-Prime Minister David Cameron, who led the Remain campaign, resigned following the popular vote, and was succeeded by May, who had been serving as the home secretary.
