Serbian Army Chief of Staff Attends BARS Russia-Serbia Drills

Joint Russian-Serbian BARS-2016 tactical flight drills ended on Friday with the last exercises personally assessed by Gen. Ljubisa Dicovic, the chief of Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) General Staff, Russian Defense Ministry said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The crews of the two countries spent a week perfecting flight at different time of day and night, interception of air targets, close air combat, complex aerobatics maneuvers and search and rescue operations.

"Today joint Russian-Serbian BARS-2016 tactical flight drills, with the participation of the crews of MiG-29 airplanes and Mi-8 helicopters, have ended. The Chief of SAF General Staff Gen. Ljubisa Dicovic was personally present at the final drill activities, including advanced flying and maneuvering air combat," the ministry's statement said.

The first joint Russian-Serbian flight drills were held at the Ashuluk range of Russia's Astrakhan Region in October, 2015.
