TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to the newspaper, the sides are mulling if Putin could visit not only the Yamaguchi prefecture but also the Japanese capital during his planned December trip.
Other Japanese media reported that the Russian delegation that would accompany Putin on his visit to Japan includes many business people who emphasized the need for Tokyo talks on economic issues.
Later in the day, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and his Japanese counterpart Shinsuke Sugiyama are due to meet in Moscow, for the first time since February 2013. They are expected to focus on economic cooperation, agenda of Putin's visit as well as peace treaty between the two countries.
Japan and Russia never signed a permanent peace treaty after World War II due to Tokyo's claims to four Russian Kuril islands, located in the Sea of Okhotsk.
