Twenty-one girls were freed from Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Nigeria's presidential spokesman confirmed on Thursday the release of 21 Chibok girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist group in 2014.

Nigerian President Confirms Boko Haram Leader Wounded in Airstrikes
He added that the release of the group took place following negotiations between Nigeria's government and Boko Haram, which were mediated by "the International Red Cross and the Swiss government."

Boko Haram is a militant group founded in 2002 in Nigeria that is aiming to impose Sharia law in the country.

In April 2014, Boko Haram militants abducted 276 girls from a boarding school in the northeastern town of Chibok. Some of them escaped while dozens are still missing.
