MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Saturday, Russia blocked the French draft UN Security Council resolution on the cessation of hostilities in Syria's northern city of Aleppo. The document received 11 votes in support, two votes against (Russia and Venezuela), while two more members of the Security Council abstained (China and Angola).

"The Russian veto on the French security council resolution prevented us from bringing an end to bombing of cities and instigation of truce," Hollande said at the Council of Europe.
