Under Pressure: One Million Refugees from Mosul to Test EU-Turkey Deal
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the CNN Turk broadcaster, Erdogan said that the Turkish army would participate in the liberation of Mosul just like it had driven the terrorists out of the Syrian border town of Jarabulus.

The broadcaster added that the Turkish leader said that his country's army would not take orders from the Iraqi authorities during the Mosul offensive operation.

Daesh, which is outlawed in Russia, the United States and many other countries, has taken over large territories of Syria and Iraq, including Mosul, one of the largest cities of Iraq, since 2014, declaring a caliphate on the territories under its control and committing numerous human rights atrocities.

On August 24, the Turkish army with the support of US-led coalition aircraft launched the Euphrates Shield operation to clear Jarabulus and the surrounding area from Daesh. The operation has been widely criticized both by the Syrian Kurds and Damascus accusing Ankara of violating Syria's territorial integrity.
