Moscow and Ankara are moving forward with plans to create a major energy hub in Turkey, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.

ISTANBUL (Sputnik) — Russia and Turkey signed earlier on Monday an intergovernmental agreement on a gas pipeline for deliveries of Russian natural gas to Turkey and Eastern Europe, which envisions construction of two underwater legs across the Black Sea.

"I would like to emphasize that this way we are moving closer to the implementation of President Erdogan's plans to create a major energy hub in Turkey," Putin said at a news conference following talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul.
